Newcastle V Everton

St James' Park 5 November 2011

Who would have thought that Newcastle will be in 3rd position after 10 games, with 6 wins, 4 draws and still no defeat. In the 10 games, they scored 15 goals and conceding just 7 goals which is best in the English Premier League.
Everton are sitting in 16th position having played just 9 games, 3 wins 1 draw and 5 defeats, scoring just 10 goals and conceding 13 goals. One wonder if Everton are really challenging for a European spot or just contented to stay in the English Premier League.

Newcastle have so far remain unbeaten in 13 games, the defeat against Blackburn Rovers was considered a draw in normal time. This is pretty impressive and the Magpies fans have much to cheer about. Everton on the other hand are having a disastrous form, winning just 1 in their last 6 games, and was a game Fulham 'supposed' to win if not for a Bobby Zamora's easy miss in the last few minutes of the game.
The last time these 2 teams locked horns at St James' Park, Newcastle won 5 times, drew 3 and Everton won 2 times.

Demba Ba is currently in the form of his life, just like Van Persie. He had scored 2 hat-tricks this season, and just 2 goals shy of being the top-scorer in the English Premier League behind Robin Van Persie. And full credits must go to the Newcastle's defence consisting of  Fabricio Coloccini, Steven Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Danny Simpson and goalkeeper Tim Krul for having the tightest defences on the English Premier League.

I don't see how Everton are able to get anything out from Newcastle this week, and the Magpies are definitely   going to strive to keep their form going. Spirits are high in Newcastle and I reckon both teams will play a cautious game. A low-scoring Newcastle win.

Newcastle United 1 - 0 Everton
